In 2023 I made the switch to the Sony system, aquaring two sony Cameras (Sony a7 IV and Sony a7 III.) and two great Sony lenses.
Sony a7 IV, a versatile hybrid camera, has significantly enhanced my ability to produce striking photos and videos. Its autofocus is top-notch, and the quality of the RAW image files is superb. Sony has really stepped up their game with the color science in this camera model, marking a significant improvement.
The Sony a7 III stands out as an exceptional camera, equipped with a Full Frame sensor that delivers outstanding performance, particularly in low-light conditions. This camera’s strength lies not only in its ability to capture crisp, clear images when lighting is less than ideal but also in its highly efficient autofocus system.
An essential addition to any camera kit, the new Sony FE 70-200mm F/2.8 GM OSS II lens excels in low light conditions and is indispensable when a zoom lens is required, especially in wildlife and nature photography. This latest model from Sony stands out for being both lightweight and compact, and its close-range focusing ability aligns perfectly with my creative vision.
The Sony FE 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 G OSS lens excels in wildlife photography, offering a broad zoom range, outstanding image clarity, and effective autofocus, ideal for capturing intricate and lively wildlife scenes. Its Optical SteadyShot stabilization and weather-sealed build, coupled with teleconverter compatibility, make it versatile in different settings. Additionally, its manageable weight and size facilitate ease of handling. This lens is a crucial tool for wildlife photographers prioritizing dependable quality in their work.
I am a certified drone operator registered with the Greek Aviation Authorities, holding an operator’s license. I operate a DJI Mini 3 Pro and a DJI Mavic Air 3, both of which are insured in compliance with Greek law.
As an action camera for b-role shots and shots in the water I use a DJI Osmo Action camera.
I use Hoya and Cokin filters, one Circular polarizer and various ND and GND filters with a Cokin EVO system.
At the moment I use a Manfrotto 055 and a Manfrotto 190 and two Gorillapods, one big and one small.
I use a DJI RSC 2 Pro Combo, a great gimbal with the right size and weight for run and gun filmmaking.
For capturing sound for my vlogs or video productions I use a Zoom H4n, a Tascam DR-05X, a Rode Stereo VideoMic Pro and the Rode Wireless Go II mics.
For my on-location lighting needs, I’ve selected Aputure, one of the top brands in the industry, and opted for the Amaran P60x kit. This LED light provides exceptional lighting quality, suitable for all my video productions, whether it’s for YouTube or other projects. An added advantage is its range of built-in effects and the convenience of controlling it via an Android/iOS app through Bluetooth. Typically, I use a single unit powered by a pair of Nitecore NP-F970 batteries.
I rely on Nitecore’s BB2 and BB21 electronic blowers, the go-to choice for photographers when it comes to cleaning equipment. Additionally, I use various cleaning tools from Nitecore, including the Nitecore Anti-slip Touchscreen Cleaning Gloves NC-CK009, Nitecore Lens Cleaning Kit, and Nitecore Cleaning Swabs to ensure my gear stays in top condition.
I owe a huge thank you to Manios Cine Tools for providing me with two fantastic bags that I use extensively for outdoor photography. When I’m working on wildlife projects, I rely on the MindShift Gear Moose Peterson MP-3 V2.0, while for all my nature and landscape endeavors, the Mindshift Backlight Elite 45L is my go-to choice. These bags have been indispensable for carrying my gear and ensuring everything is well-organized during my outdoor adventures.
